I am afraid I could turn this whole Blog into a "where we went to eat" place and that's not really what I wanted. On the other hand - we do like to go out to eat and sometimes those places just stand out...
So here are a few of our favorite places.
New: (we've only been once or twice)
The State Street Station - On State Street in Schenectady (duh... but I cannot recall the number)
This place is small but interesting! They just recently celebrated their Grand Opening - so recent - they are not in the phone book.... But they do a decent breakfast and if you get there early (before 7am) the early bird special is a great buy. Ask for the train, and they will run it around the track that is mounted high on the wall around the perimeter of the room.
The Half Moon Diner - on Route 9 in Half Moon
Friendly, clean and good food! This is the dinner that the waitress noticed we were ordering Greek food and told us all about the upcoming Greek Festivals - of which we were very happy to hear about- of course!
Some oldies but goodies: (we've been lots of times)
Sally Streetside Cafe-158 Sacandaga Road, Scotia, New York 12302, (518) 280-3980
Open Mon-Sat 6am-2pm/Sundays 7am-Noon - Free Wireless Internet - No Credit Cards Accepted
We found this place shortly after moving to Schenectady. It's plain old good food and better company. They recognize the regulars and make new folks feel like regulars. Their recent move from Chrisler Ave in Schenectady to the Scotia Plaza takes them further away from us and we don't go as often. But we do make the effort to get there every few weeks for breakfast. They treat us like long lost friends each time.
